World Tourism Day Celebration – 2016

World Tourism Day Celebration – 2016 was hosted in Mandsaur University under the “Tourism for All (Promoting Universal Accessibility)” theme with full fervor. The students represented various life size models of Indian as well as International Monuments with special reference to tourism point of view on this occasion.

The Theme of World Tourism Day is “Tourism for all” (Promoting Universal Accessibility) this year. Accessible Tourism for all is about the creation of environments that can cater for the needs of all of us, whether we are traveling or staying at home. May that be due to a disability, even temporary, families with small children, or the ageing population, at some point in our lives, sooner or later, we all benefit of universal accessibility in tourism.

World Tourism Day is recognized each year in the month of September by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in an effort to highlight the industry’s vital economic contributions as well as positive cultural impacts achieved when bringing people together from across the globe.

Faculty of Tourism & Hospitality, Mandsaur University has been organized Poster Competition (Paryatan Avalokan), Tourism Quiz Competition (Paryatan Prashnottari), Slogan Competition (Slogan for Tourism) and a Special Lecture by Prof. Jagdish Khatri (Director-BMC) on Tourism & Hospitality Industry especially to motivate the tourism students. Prof. Khatri has discussed about various types and forms of tourism and hospitality sector and motivate the tourism students for their career options.

Winners of the various competitions are as under:

1.       Paryatan Avalokan: Mohd. Afraz (First) and Puneet Singh & Kuldeep Singh (Second).

2.       Paryatan Prashnotteri: Team – A of Mohd. Afraz and Nadeem Khan (First) and Team – B of Digvijay Singh & Ajaybhan Singh (Second).

3.       Slogan Competition: Digvijay Singh Sisodiya (First) and Ajaybhan Singh (Second).

The Guest of Honor, Prof. Salini Gupta Vice-Chancellor of Mandsaur University and Prof. Dilip Kumar Patnaik Registrar of Mandsaur University interacted with the students and discussed the duties of a tourist and career prospects of tourism and hospitality industry. Prof. Shalini Gupta has discussed that Mandsaur University is the first institution in Madhya Pradesh which has started this type of combination in which tourism and hospitality sectors are included.
