Brief description/ Remarks:
The Faculty of Pharmacy has organized a Webinar entitled “Vaccine Development Process” on 28/05/2021 for the university students, research scholars and faculty members. Dr. Amit Kumar Jain, Principal & Dr. M A Naidu, briefed about the theme of the webinar to all participants. He introduced the keynote speaker Dr. Ramesh Ganesan, Senior Manager (Vaccine Formulation Development), Biological E Limited, Hyderabad.
He explained the general stages of the development cycle of a vaccine like Exploratory stage, Pre-clinical stage, Clinical development, Regulatory review and approval, Manufacturing and Quality control. Clinical development is a three-phase process. During Phase I, small groups of people receive the trial vaccine. In Phase II, the clinical study is expanded and vaccine is given to people who have characteristics (such as age and physical health) similar to those for whom the new vaccine is intended. In Phase III, the vaccine is given to thousands of people and tested for efficacy and safety.
Dr. Ramesh, actively interacted with all participants and answered all the important questions raised by the participants in a very elaborative and informative way. Dr. Amit Kumar Jain, Coordinator and Dr. Naveen Choudhary, Co-coordinator of the webinar expressed vote of thanks to the keynote speaker and all participants.
Outcome: All the participants actively participated in the webinar. They learnt about role of various process of vaccine development, which will enrich the participant’s knowledge.
