The Faculty of Life Science has organized a hands-on workshop entitled “Working mechanism and Applications of Microtomy”

Department: Life Sciences Year/Semester: B.Sc and M.Sc. Sem- I (Biotechnology)
Activity: Hands-on Workshop
Date and Duration: 18 February, 2021. 12:10 AM  to 1:10 PM
Title:  “Working mechanism and Applications of Microtomy”
Resource Person: Meenakshi Jain, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Life Science, Mandsaur University, Mandsaur

Brief description/ Remarks:

Microtomy is an important technique is used in several branches of life science for the development of permanent slides to be observed under microscopic technique. Microtome use steel, glass or diamond blades depending upon the specimen being sliced and the desired thickness of the sections being cut.

The Faculty of Life Science has organized one day hand on workshop entitled “Working mechanism and Applications of Microtomy” on 18 February, 2021. The workshop was organized with the aim to make students learn about tissue embedded blocks preparation by thin sectioning. Further the student will be able to develop their own tissue block and slides.

Outcome:  All the participants actively participate in the workshop. They learn the practical approach of advance techniques related to Biotechnology and Microbiology. The workshop was beneficial for the students who are making their mind to join Life Science based industries as well as it will also help the student to pursue carrier in the field of Research and development. Such type of workshops helps the department to grow and promote research.
