Workshop on “Basics of PLC and SCADA” under AAROHAN

Five days workshop was conducted on “Basics of PLC and SCADA” by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for BE & Diploma third-year students from 29 May to 03 June 2018 under AAROHAN. The Guest speaker Mr. Mahesh Parmar, associated with Prologik Technologies, Surat (Gujarat) has experience of more than 10 years in such areas like SCADA, PLC, HMI/MMI, AC Drives (VFD), Interfacing of SCADA, PLC, HMI, AC Drives etc. The PLC (“Programmable Logic Controller”) system is the major key in the technology and industrial sector today. PLC or Programmable Logic Controller is the system that makes machinery and systems work automatically. It incorporates three basic features of input, process, and output where everything has to go along well and harmoniously. SCADA is the acronym for “Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition”. SCADA is a computer-based system for gathering and analyzing real-time data to monitor and control equipment that deals with critical and time-sensitive materials or events. A PLC is one of several device types that are deployed at individual locations to provide data and control access to site equipment from a central SCADA console. If the central SCADA console can be described as the brain of SCADA system, then the PLCs are the nerves and muscles. They inform the brain and act on its commands. Students learned all the basics of PLC and SCADA with practical implementation on KEPserverEX and Wonderware InTouch software and hardware. Total 20 students availed the workshop.
