Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a method widely used in molecular biology to make many copies of a specific DNA segment. Using PCR thermal cycler, a single copy (or more) of a DNA sequence is exponentially amplified to generate thousands to millions of more copies of that particular DNA segment.Over the years, PCR has become an indispensable and integral part of life sciences and medical research. PCR technique and its several advanced variants act as powerful tools which enable a multitude of specialized applications which were once deemed impossible by the scientific world including genotyping, cloning, mutation detection, sequencing, microarray, forensics sciences etc.
