Green Technology or clean technology is one of the important applications of green chemistry, which is based on “Prevention is better than cure”. Green technology is an umbrella term that describes the use of technology and science to create products that are more environment friendly. The goal of green tech is to protect the environment and in some cases, to even repair past damage done to the environment.
To make awareness on green technology, the Faculty of Life Sciences has organized an online National Webinar entitled “Environmental Sustainability Through Green Technology” on 11th July 2020 for the university students, research scholar, researchers and faculty members. The key speaker for the event was Dr. Rakshit Ameta, Director, Faculty of Science, J.R.N. Rajasthan Vidyapeeth, Udaipur.
The program was coordinated by Mrs. Farha Ansari, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Life Sciences, Mandsaur University. Initially, she welcomed all the participants & invited Dr. Shekhar Jain for opening remark. Dr. Shekhar Jain, Head, Faculty of Life Sciences, briefed about Mandsaur University & also about the department. He also expressed gratitude to Dr. Rakshit Ameta for accepting invitation. Later on Prof. Farha Ansari introduced the key speaker Dr. Ameta & invited him for his disseminating session.
During the session, Dr. Ameta discussed in detail about Green technology & twelve principles of Green Chemistry. These principles are basically based on the pollution prevention & environmental cleaning. He also explained about some chemical processes like Photo catalysis, Sonolysis & Fenton & Phot-fenton reactions, necessary to increase productivity at industrial level & also helpful in degradation of waste products. At the end, he explained some other important oxidation processes which can be applied to make our future and earth healthy & happy. He also raised a question “whether you want warm & polluted environment or Clean & Green Earth”, the choice is of yours.
