Brief description/ Remarks:

Dr. Ashish Warghane, Assistant professor, Faculty of Life Sciences, Mandsaur University, Mandsaur has delivered the Guest Lecture entitled on “Plant Viruses and it’s Diagnosis” at Molecular Diagnostics & Biomolecule Characterization (MDBC), Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Tamil Nadu, India- 638 401 dated on 20th Sept. 2020. The Guest lecture was attended by more 35 participants including students, young researchers, faculties and Ph. D scholars. Dr. Arunava Das, Associate Professor, Molecular Diagnostics & Bacterial Pathogenomics Research Laboratory (AICTE & DST Sponsored), Department of Biotechnology, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology introduced Dr. Ashish Warghane to the participants.

During the session, he gave detail presentation on plant viruses, symptomatology and novel molecular biology techniques used for sensitive and rapid detection of the plant viruses. He explains the role Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Electron Microscopy, Real Time-PCR, LAMP technology and Recombinase Polymerase Amphilification (RPA) technology for robust detection of viruses and virus like pathogens. He also explains how inhibitory protein molecules use for control of deadly plant viruses. During question answer session Dr. Warghane interacted with the participants and other faculty members of BIT and gives very thoroughly answers to all participants.

Outcome: Such type of delivering online guest lecture imparts the value and broadly recognition to Mandsaur University in the other parts of India. It also shows that, active research is conducted in our university on the burning issues like plant viruses and their novel detection. It also promotes the university at the national and international level platforms and helps us to connect with experts in the field of life sciences. Such types of events also helpful to make fruitful collaborative work in the field Life sciences.
