The Faculty of Pharmacy has organized a National Webinar on topic “Novel drug delivery systems: Basics, Needs and Applications in Recent Era” on 21 July 2020 for the students, research scholars, and faculty members. Mr. Ritesh Kala, Coordinator, welcome and brief about the theme of the webinar and introduced the keynote speaker Dr. Akhlesh K. Jain. Dr. Akhlesh described the concept of Novel Drug Delivery Systems (NDDS). He explained about the various approaches for NDDS and compared about the sustained and controlled release medications. He also described in detail about various carrier systems used to develop NDDS.
During the question-answer session, participants raised queries about the opportunities in the field of NDDS, using the concept of virosomes for the development of the COVID-19 vaccine and about the capability of NDDS to alter the immune response of the body.
At last Dr. Amit Kumar Jain, chief coordinator expressed vote of thanks to the keynote speaker and all participants.
Outcome: All the participants actively participated in the webinar. They learnt about various novel approaches for drug delivery. Participants learned some basic concepts about the NDDS and their applications in a variety of disease conditions.
No. of participants: 225 participants from different states of India including Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, New Delhi, Kerala, etc.
