“International Youth Day”
Department of Agriculture celebrated “International Youth Day” on August 12, 2017. The theme of International Youth Day 2017 was “Youth Building Peace”. International Youth Day is dedicated to celebrating young people’s contributions to conflict prevention and transformation as well as inclusion, social justice, and sustainable peace.
Dr R.A.Sharma, Director, Agriculture, inaugurated a series of competitions and said that let us unite on the International Youth Day, with the future of our world who will one day become future leaders. On this occasion, Dr Shailendra Sharma, Dean of Academic Affairs, expressed his thoughts and reiterated the words of Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova:
“Young people are essential for any lasting solution leading to peace. On International Youth Day, let us all unite to partner with young women and men to craft new paths together towards more peaceful societies”.
Speaking ahead he accentuated that we must not forget that the younger generation is a key constituent in ensuring the success of both peace-keeping and peace-building efforts. Different Competitions like Slogan Writing, Essay Writing and Speech Competitions were organized on this occasion. Around 50 Students participated in this event.
In the Poster Making Competition, Mr K. Deva, K Sandeep Chandra, B. Nareshkumar, students of Agriculture were declared as I, II and III respectively. While in the competition of Slogan Writing, Ms Ashly Elza, Vaishnavi and Sharad Chandra bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd position. The winners of essay competition were Mr N. Rohita, Mr Sharad Chandra and Ms Pallavi. In the speech competition, Naveen, Ramya and Vaishnodevi were rated I, II and III. At the end, Dr Sourabh Gupta proposed the vote of thanks. The coordinators of this programme were Mrs Nazma Mansoori and Ms Meenakshi Meshram.
