Industrial Visit to Shree Singaji Thermal Power Plant

Industrial Visit to Shree Singaji Thermal Power Plant

With an aim to go beyond theoretical approach, Departments of Electrical & Electronics Engineering & Mechanical Engineering had organized an industrial visit to Shree Singaji Thermal Power Plant, Dongaliya village nearby Mundi of Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh,  on 6th Nov  2017. Total 44 students (26 students form Electrical & Electronics Engineering &  18 students of Mechanical Engineering), along with four faculty members visited the site. The intention was to help the students in building  a practical approach towards the World of Engineering.

Thermal Power Plant has 2 units each of 600 MW. So, the total installed capacity of the plant is 1200 MW. Mr Ramesh Kawasiya, Chief Engineer, explained the working cycle of thermal power station. Students got the idea of the variety of equipment used in the power plant. We gathered very important and admirably detailed practical data, related to temperature, pressure, the quantity and quality of coal, etc. used for the power generation, which are not available in text books. The discussion session with experts proved interactive as many questions were asked to clear the doubts by students.

The visit was proved beneficial as we observed each stage of energy conversion used in power plant from fuel section to switchyard.
