Guest Lecture on Introduction to Textiles and Fashion Forecasting

The Department of Fashion Design organized a Guest Lecture on 18 November 2017 on ‘Introduction to Textiles’ for the students of first year and on 19 November 2017 on ‘Fashion Studies and Forecasting’ for the students of second year at LT-01. The guest speaker was Prof. Shruti Tripathi, Principal, ACAD Institute, Indore.

Dr Shruti Tripathi is having 18 years of experience in Fashion Industry. She has delivered several invited lectures. She has designated as project- in-charge by Tata International Private Limited in the year 2009. She has also appointed as subject expert of Fashion Design and Textile Design by NCERT (PSSCIVE-Bhopal) for setting the syllabus. She has to her credit good number of research articles in national and international journals. She judged many events of NIFT, Bhopal.

The event started with a welcome address. The guest lecture was preceded by a short talk. In her talk she emphasized the importance of different types of fabrics, their texture and quality with specific examples and PowerPoint presentation which help students to select the materials according to their designing. Practical demonstrations were given to students. Forecasting helped students in preparing their trend reports of fashion industry, styles and the prediction of designs, colours and patterns for upcoming years.

The lecture started around 10:00 AM and ended around 5:00 PM. The lecture received admiration from the students. The event ended with the vote of thanks.
