Flute Recital by Pt. Rupak Kulkarni on 13 October 2015

SPIC-MACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth) chapter of Mandsaur University organized “Flute Recital” by internationally famed flautist Pandit Rupak Kulkarni on 13th October 2015. As a child prodigy with music blown into his breath by his father late Pandit Malhar Rao, Kulkarni Rupak has blossomed under the tutelage of flute legend Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia to become an outstanding exponent of MAIHAR GHARANA. He has performed in numerous prestigious music conferences and concerts in India, The USA, The UK, Russia, Japan, France etc. Besides live performances, his work has also been released by major music companies including Times Music, HMV, Navras, Plus Music, Rhythm House, Ninaad, ABCL’s Big B, Sense World (London), and World Wide Records. He recorded his first album at a tender age of 18, aptly titled “Tenderly”, accompanied by Tabla maestro Pandit Anindo Chatterji.

He performs regularly on All India Radio, World Space Radio and various TV channels such as Doordarshan, STAR TV, Zee TV, and CNN-IBN. Pt. Rupak Kulkarni was accompanied by Shri Sapan Anjaria on table and Shri Aditya Sutar on flute. Shri Sapan Anjaria is a well known exponent of table. He is a faculty member of Sur Saptak Academy. Shri Aditya Sutar is on the way of becoming a great flautist as he is under the tutelage of Pt. Rupak Kulkarni. The program was attended by a large number of students, all faculty & staff members and guests from the city. The students of music school were also present and learned some nuances of the craft from the masters themselves. Chancellor of the university Shri Narendra Nahata shared his experience of a classical music performance, he attended in the USA. He told the audience the performance was very well received and much appreciated by the audience though mostly being Americans. He advised the students to take interest in rich cultural heritage that we are endowed with. He also presented a memento to Pt. Rupak Kulkarni. In the end coordinator of the program extended vote of thanks to all artists as well as audience.
