Extempore Competition

Department of Communication Skills organized a “TECH-TALK” session for the first year students of all Engineering departments.(B.Tech and Diploma) on 22.10.19. The session was conducted at Language Lab, Campus 1, at 11:20 a.m. The participants were given five topics related to technical education, impact of Social media, role of communication skills, Chandrayaan Mission 2019 etc. They had to pick up any one out of these five and speak for 3 minutes. The participation was actively done from all the four branches of Engineering and students utilized the platform for depicting their speaking abilities. They also represented the non- verbal form of communication by presenting their views with proper gesture, eye contact and confidence. The faculty coordinators of Engineering department took a lot of interest to persuade their students for speaking at public forum. Saksham Bhindwal, B.Tech (CSE) won the competition and trophy. Raghvendra Khatri, B.Tech (CSE) and Kartike Singh, B.Tech(Mech) remained as first and second runner up. The Judges for this event were Dr. Mukesh Sharma, Dean Faculty of Business Administration, and Dr. Arandhna Sethi, Principal and HOD of Education department. They explained the meaning and importance of Extempore by deeply emphasizing the meaning of three Es in the word “EXTEMPORE”. Our Vice Chancellor Sir, Dr. Shailendra Sharma also dedicated his precious pearls of time for attending our event. He motivated students by explaining them the importance of Public speaking which is vital for Interviews and outside world. Overall, 26 students listed their names out of which 23 participated. Students were also shown the documentary of Reading & Speaking Club which enhanced their morale to participate in such activities more and more. Students also gave their feedback for the event and how such activities help them to grow their confidence. The event was organized by Ms Tanushree Shrivastav, HOD, Comm. Skills and coordinated by Mr. Vikram Panwar. Hussaina, Student of fashion dept. and a member of Reading and Speaking Club hosted the event. Nayan Mogra, chief coordinator of R & S club look after all the seating and technical arrangements. Overall, the event remained a successful one.
