Drug Discovery process of Natural Products

Department of Research and Development, BRNCOP of MU, organized a lecture on “Drug Discovery process of Natural Products” on 9th April 2018 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Campus Auditorium. The guest lecture gather eminent speaker: Prof. (Dr.) Ramkumar Sahu (Associate Professor, Columbia College of Pharmacy, Raipur, Chattisgarh). Program conveys about drug discovery process of natural products. In his address, Dr Sahu stressed that allopathic medicines have serious side effects, so developing and developed countries focus on drugs from natural products having no or fewer side effects. He told about various steps involved in drug research from natural products like organoleptic properties, extraction and isolation of active constituent, qualitative and quantitative determination of active constituent, structural identification, pharmacological activity and synthesis of their derivatives. He also told about various research possibilities in this field to discover newer active constituent which is act as a drug to cure various diseases.
