Draping Session by Fashion Design Department
Department of Fashion Design successfully conducted a ‘Draping Session’ for the students of Mandsaur University under the activity of Fashion Club on 22nd April 2017, Saturday.
Drape (arrangement of fabrics in style to form a particular pattern) indicates the fluidity of a garment; how the garment falls/shapes around a core structure. This is one aspect of designing which has received major attention from designers around the world. Experimenting with ways of draping garment open up different new styles and fashion trends. Usually, soft fabrics like Chiffon, Satin, Silk, Georgettes, and Lycra are frequently used as draped material, but many other fabrics can be used as well.
Students of Fashion Design taught 15 styles of draping with the help of scarf and sarees out of which 5 gowns are made with the help of sarees. After the session, a competition was organized for the participants. In all, twelve students from different departments of the university participated. Namrata Rathore, a student of Civil Engineering, second year, was announced as the winner and got a ‘T-shirt’ from the Department of Fashion Design.
