Brief description / remarks:

Department of Journalism & Mass communication of Mandsaur University had jointly organized one day webinar in collaboration with “Communication Today Journal” on 100 Years of Media Education in India’. Professors and Experts from different Universities and Institutions were present to share their views. During the webinar Ex-Pro Vice Chancellor of Assam University Professor K V Nagraj speaks on the various aspects of one-decade old media education. He highlighted the topic what we were studying one century before and now. At the same time Ex. Head, Centre for Mass Communication Rajasthan University, Jaipur  Professor Sanjeev Bhanawat emphasized on the challenges of media education in the current situation. Prof. Surabhi Dahia, Professor and Course Director in the Department of English Journalism, Indian Institute of Mass Communication New Delhi referred to the major centers of media education going on across the country for hundred years. Dr.  Anukaran Datta, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Communication and Journalism (Estd. in 1967), Guwahati University, Guwahati, Assam emphasized on the Practical based learning and Research in Media education. Prof. Gopal Singh, Dean, School of Journalism & Mass Communication, BBAU, Lucknow said that the need for media education has become even more necessary and important in the coming years.

On this occasion Dr. Manish Jaisal Head of the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication laid his emphasize that dept. of Journalism of Mandsaur University is continuously focusing on practical based knowledge. Along with radio and TV Studio lab, the department is also continuously motivating its student in the field of research. Assistant Professor Sonali Singh, Arun Jaiswal and students of the department were also present in the webinar.

Outcome:

The main outcome of the webinar was to inform the students, scholars and academician about the importance and benefit of media education in the country. The motto also lies on informing about the course structure, syllabus of now and then. Experts from different field imparted their knowledge on media education in India in the session.
