Department of Agriculture Organised a Workshop on “Food Processing [ELP/M-09]”

Title: “Workshop on Food Processing (ELP/M09) –  Preparation of Soy Milk and Tofu”

Brief description/ Remarks:  A workshop on “Food Processing” was conducted on 24th March, 2021. The aim of the workshop was to motivate students for their own startup in food sector. The students were informed about the importances, need, impacts, current scenario and initiative of Government in food processing. Ms. Sushmita Mandal (Asstt. Prof.) delivered informative lecture on Soybean Processing and utilization of soy products. In between the session interaction was taking place among the staff and students related to the processing of soya beans and about different food industries which can be setup in local areas according to the availability of raw materials. Students were trained as how to prepare soy byproducts. On another day 1 Kg soybean seeds were bought from local farms and students did practical and prepared 5 products e.g. (1) Whole Soy Milk, (2) Dehulled Soy Milk,  (3)  Tofu from Dehulled Soy milk, (4) Tofu from Whole Soy Milk and (5) Okara. The Module work is smoothly running under the guidance of Dr. Sanjay Singh, Ms. Sushmita Mandal and Mr. Dayashankar Singh.

 

Outcome– Students and all the faculty members participated actively in the workshop and learnt about the Foof processing techniques particularly food Processing, methodology of soy milk and soya paneer and their future market potential.
