Reading and Speaking Club of Mandsaur University conducted Inter-Departmental MUSICAL POETRY COMPETITION, ALFAAZ: LYRICAL ABHIVYAKTI with an objective to increase student’s willingness to communicate their inner thoughts, emotions and feelings through poetry and a symphony of music, to encourage active participation, use of imagination and creativity, and to perform with a zest of soulful words and music.

The programme started with the lamp lightening ceremony and gracing the environment with the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and invoking the day with a prayer dance on the song “Hartarafharjagah” performed by a BCA student, Kanak Gupta. After igniting the auspicious aura, students welcomed the judges, Mr. KaruLalJamda(Faculty at Higher Education), Dr. RoopeshChaturvedi (Head, Dept. of English, College of Horticulture Mandsaur), Arjun Medatwal( a musician and guitarist)  by offering a floral welcome. Students also welcomed our Chairman Sir and Vice Chancellor Sir. Students of Reading & Speaking Club prepared a documentary of the club and which was followed by the official inauguration of the club by our esteemed judges. The documentary emphasized the importance of the club and communication in professional and personal life & various activities conducted by the club for all the students of every department. The anchors of the program were SakshamBhindwal, Arwa, YashBairagi and Janvi Joshi.

In all, the event had 21students from various departments. The participants were auditioned by the faculty coordinator of every department nominated by the Reading & Speaking club. Every participant was asked to combine their poetry with a light and soothing music. Participants presented their poetry on various issues and topics like Save Girl Child, Child rape, Flood in Mandsaur, My father, Patriotism, College days etc. Students presented their poetry in the form of a song and rap also. Two students from Mandsaur International School, Akshara and Sakina also presented their poetry in English. The audience and judges were highly impressed by the participants. Later on, faculties from DBMC, Life science, Agriculture and Fashion also recited their own creations of words. Dr. Shekhar Jain, faculty of Life science department, won the accolade. Students from MIS also received trophies as token of appreciation.

The jury members were presented mementoes by Prof. Shailendra Sharma and Prof. Jodhana. Event Coordinator Ms. Tanushree Shrivastav proposed vote of thanks. Mr. Arjun Medatwal, one of the judges enlightened the surroundings with his strings of guitar. Mr. Karu Jamda also presented few of his original creations of poetry works to us as a token of love and gratitude. Dr. Lokeshwar S. Jodhana, Chief Coordinator of Centralized Activities,Mr. Vikram Panwar, Mrs. Mudita Nagar and Mr. Nandkishore Patidar provided their benevolent support in organizing the event smoothly.The Musical Poetry Competition helped each participant to enhance the speaking skills on platform and encouraged all the students to be more involved intheir own creativity and presenting them in the form of poetry while they become the part of any organization. Finally, participants were agreed that they have gained a lot of insight and boosted their confidence by participating in this competition and they promised that they will further participate in such competitions in future.
